We visited Crystal Bay for two of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen! The beach is perched in front of a palm tree grove, where you can ride a scooter down palm tree lined roads. On the beach, you will find spectators sipping on Bintangs and eating grilled fish on beanbags in the sand. Clusters of fishing boats and snorkelers float in the crystal clear waters admiring the colorful fish that lie below. Best of all is the beautiful rock formation in the center of the water, which creates beautiful silhouettes at sunset.
How to get to Crystal Bay
Crystal Bay is one of the easiest beaches to get to in Nusa Penida because unlike some of our other favorites, you don’t have to descend hundreds of stairs or scale a cliff face to get there! It’s located on the west coast of the island, less than an hour from Angel’s Billabong and Kelingking Beach. We recommend taking a scooter to Crystal Bay because you can drive down the picturesque (and paved) palm tree roads to get there.
Cost of Crystal Bay
The parking fee seemingly varies depending on who is collecting the money and the time of day. We paid 2,000 IDR to park and shortly after saw people charging 5,000 IDR. If you go super early in the morning, most likely no-one will be collecting money yet and you can park for free! There are also plenty of food stalls lining the beach, serving 20k nasi gorengs and 50k grilled fish.
When to go to Crystal Bay
We highly recommend coming here on a clear day at least an hour before sunset. This will give you ample time to explore the palm tree roads in the daylight before watching the sky light up on the beach!
